As part of the efforts of the Ministry of Digital Transformation and Communications, the Baladna Platform has launched the pilot phase of digital consular services for Sudanese citizens in Jeddah, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

In a step that reflects the determination of the Sudanese state to continue building and advancing despite the exceptional circumstances facing the country, the National Root Key for the Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) was officially launched during a formal ceremony attended by representatives of government institutions and stakeholders involved in the digital transformation and cybersecurity sectors.

His Excellency Eng. Ahmed Dardiri Ghandour, Minister of Digital Transformation and Communications, revealed the Ministry’s plan to expand fourth-generation (4G) mobile services to approximately 200 villages across various states of Sudan during 2026. The initiative comes as part of the government’s efforts to strengthen digital connectivity and reduce the digital divide between urban and rural areas.

H.E. Eng. Ahmed Dardiri Ghandoor, Minister of Digital Transformation and Communications, participated in the Ministerial Programme of MWC Barcelona 2026, one of the world’s leading platforms for dialogue on digital transformation policies and the future of technology.

In a national achievement reflecting the advancement of Sudan’s travel document infrastructure, the Republic of Sudan has officially deposited the sovereign public key certificate used for signing electronic passports in the Public Key Directory (PKD) of the International Civil Aviation Organization at its headquarters in Montreal. This enables instant verification of the authenticity of Sudan’s machine-readable electronic passports at airports and international border crossings worldwide.

As part of strengthening digital governance and enhancing the efficiency of managing strategic projects, and during the press conference on the achievements of the Government of Hope, the Ministry of Digital Transformation and Communications, under the direction of the Prime Minister, announced the launch of the initial version of the National Projects Management System, with the smart and fully integrated version to be launched in the near future.
